DSB train workshop in Næstved

Gottlieb Paludan Architects has designed the workshop facilities in Næstved for DSB's new electric trains.

By 2030, DSB will replace its current diesel-powered train fleet with new, faster electric trains to contribute to more climate-friendly train traffic in Denmark. In this connection, DSB has decided to move the locomotive workshop from central Copenhagen to Næstved. The workshop will replace the current facilities on Otto Busses Vej in Copenhagen and comprises approx. 36,000 m² of construction, whose primary functions will be to maintain and repair the future fleet of electric locomotives and railcars.

Gottlieb Paludan Architects were sub-consultants to Rambøll and were responsible for the process up to and including the project proposal. The assignment included both architecture and landscape architecture, including designing the workshop to function optimally in terms of traffic and workshop logistics, architectural design and harmonious integration into the site.
