DSB train workshop in Aarhus
DSB is building several train maintenance facilities for electrically powered trains, and Gottlieb Paludan Architects is the architectural consultant through all phases of the facility in Aarhus, which is currently under construction.
The project comprises two buildings - a main workshop with storage facilities, technical installations, smaller component workshops for specialized work, an administration wing, a canteen and changing rooms for employees, and a separate wheel turning building east of the main workshop. Both buildings share functionality as a guiding design principle.
The two buildings will be constructed in robust materials with an industrial touch, making them timeless and elegant. In addition, the emphasis is on harmonious integration into the site. As part of the landscape project, surplus soil has been integrated into the design and used to create new landscape elements.
GPA has contributed to a distinct architectural expression. The buildings will be certified according to the DGNB sustainability standard in the platinum category. The DGNB Platinum category includes prioritizing sustainable material choices, LCC and LCA calculations and increased focus on good staff conditions.
