Brøndbyvester waterworks

Brøndbyvester Waterworks has been expanded with the first major softener plant in Denmark and is the first element in HOFOR’s plan for rolling out softened water to all the municipalities they supply.

During the establishment of the softener plant at Brøndbyvester Waterworks, the old oxidation steps were replaced by a new, closed superstructure. The superstructure is constructed in light blue polycarbonate, serving as a bright landmark for the building which can be seen from the Holbæk motorway.

The tower contains the tall softener columns and a new oxidation unit that collectively ensure more control with the softening process.

Brøndbyvester Waterworks was built in 1964 and has been renovated in several stages, most recently in the 1990s. The existing waterworks is constructed in red brickwork and has undergone comprehensive rebuilding to house the new process facility.

In addition to the installation of the softener plant, the works has been provided with a closed oxidation system, and it also disinfects the clean water with a UV system as an additional security feature.
