Sverresborg - Trøndelag Folkemuseum
Gottlieb Paludan Architects has renovated Trøndelag Folk Museum which is among the largest cultural history museums in Norway with collections of houses, artefacts and archive materials.
The museum manages more than 80 historical buildings that display building techniques particular to the Trøndelag region, from town to country, from mountain to coast and from Sami huts to wooden mansions.
Gottlieb Paludan Architects renovated the visitor section with reception, shop, café and function room. The café was given an overhaul to become not just a museum café but also to make it a neighbourhood café with a function room that can be divided off, a reception and a new and larger museum shop. The café changed its name from Cafe Bagle to Borgstua and is under new management.
The shop is physically divided into three thematic concepts: the town, the rural society and the castle. A soundproof lecture room, black box, was also constructed for small, closed events, for instance kindergartens visiting the museum.
In additional to the design planning, Gottlieb Paludan Architects also managed all custom designs such as counters and shop furniture.
