Oslo Bus Terminal

Oslo Bus Terminal – OBT – has become a vibrant, safe and attractive urban space for everyone. The bus terminal engages the traveller with its architecture, branding and service design.

The project was launched in anticipation of a possible new bus terminal in Oslo. The goal was to improve the travel experience, stimulate business development and enhance the quality of the bus terminal and the adjacent urban spaces. Gottlieb Paludan Architects developed an urban design for the project, both consisting of a renovation and expansion of the terminal, and was lead architect and applicant in the process from draft design to framework application and turnkey contract. We became involved in the detail and performance phase and also contributed with project management.

ÅF Lighting delivered the lighting design, while Designit developed a new brand identity with focus on service design and visual identity – i.e. how the user experiences the bus terminal. The result is a total transformation of the experience of OBT today.

Gottlieb Paludan Architects also worked with a master plan for the area, including identification of related sub-projects and action areas.
