Gottlieb Paludan Architects has contributed to a new bridge connection between Loftesnes and Sogndal. The project included terrain adjustment along road and constructions and design planning of a new open area with footpaths on both sides of the bridge.
The new Loftesnes bridge in Sogndal crosses the sound between Sogndal Fjord and Barsnes Fjord. The new bridge will replace the existing bridge which currently connects Loftesnes and Nestangen.
The current intersection at Nestangen will be replaced by a roundabout. In connection with the new bridge, an area will be filled and established as a park and recreation area around the land bridge piers on both sides of the sound.
Fjordstien, the current recreative route from Sogndal town centre will be extended along the fjord and under the bridge, before swirling up to the roundabout and continuing across the bridge to Loftesness. On Loftesness there will be a recreational park with varied seating and picnic options, grass areas encouraging activity and stairs leading to the water, offering bathing and boat access. Examination followed by detailing of plan and concept.
The bridge is constructed by ÅF Reinertsen AS and the design plan for the road is made by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Gottlieb Paludan Architects (formerly tegn_3) is responsible for the landscape architecture and was involved in the bridge design.
