Control room for the S-trains in Copenhagen, Bespoke furniture

Gottlieb Paludan Architects has developed and designed the furniture for the control room at The Traffic Tower near Dybbølsbro in Copenhagen.

The premises are in place for monitoring the new signalling system for S-trains and the operators will have ideal working conditions

A new signalling system for S-trains is being installed in Copenhagen over the next few years. Siemens supplies everything from the system itself to the furniture for the new control room, from which Banedanmark will control the S-train network and DSB will provide passenger information.

Gottlieb Paludan Architects has developed and designed desks, storage furniture and the cladding for the video wall erected in the control room at The Traffic Tower - situated near Dybbølsbro in Copenhagen.

The starting point for planning and developing the furniture was the users’ physical, ergonomic and psychological working conditions which were carefully researched.

All issues relating to the use of the desks were scrutinized: adequate space and comfort for users, visibility of the monitors and video wall, the running of cables in and at the desks, the furniture’s contribution to the acoustics, etc.

The design and appearance of the furniture coordinate with the building and the room so as to achieve an overall impression of high quality and a pleasing sense of visual calmness that support the processes taking place in the control room.
