Aarhus letbane etape 2

The expansion of the light rail consists of four subprojects: a line between Spanien in Aarhus C and Brabrand, a line between Lisbjergskolen and Hinnerup, a line to Aarhus Ø and a station on the main line in Brabrand.

The objective of the light rail is to build a coherent public infrastructure that creates new connections in and around Aarhus. By connecting different urban districts, the light rail contributes to creating a more accessible, efficient and sustainable city. The high capacity of the light rail ensures that residents living on the outskirts of Aarhus can easily and efficiently get to and from work or place of education.

The ambition of the winning design is to give something back to the city. The project focuses on the passengers, as the light rail should offer an attractive alternative to the car. The design takes into account future construction projects and buildings, thereby contributing to the continued development of Aarhus and the surrounding areas. Key words for the expansion are accessibility, user-friendliness and sense of security.

The work on phase 2 began during the late summer of 2019, and the feasibility studies are expected to be completed in 2021.
