Project

Gottlieb Paludan Architects to modernise Copenhagen Central Station

19.01.2023

Gottlieb Paludan Architects has won a major modernisation and refurbishment project at Copenhagen Central Station, in collaboration with MOE, Drachmann Arkitekter and Malus. The purpose of the project for DSB (the Danish State Railways) is to create a more open and safe experience of the station.

The retail area in the entrance hall will be transformed and modernised, while the facade facing Reventlowsgade will be opened up to create opportunities for shops, cafés and other public functions that can contribute to the urban life around the station.

Large parts of the station are protected and the work will be planned and designed in close dialogue with the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces.

This project is one of a series of projects that Gottlieb Paludan Architects  is currently undertaking at the Central Station, including new lighting in the entrance hall and the restoration of historical staircase facing Reventlowsgade. It is also a continuation of Gottlieb Paludan Architects' century old collaboration with DSB.
