BLOX – the new venue for life in the city is open

07.05.2018

Gottlieb Paludan Architects was client adviser on Realdania By & Byg’s prestigious project BLOX which was officially opened by HM The Queen on 4 May 2018. The project has been underway for eleven years and Gottlieb Paludan Architects oversaw the building process, dealing with issues relating to anything from compliance with local plans to end-user involvement.

Gottlieb Paludan Architects took care of the communication and coordination between the client and OMA and has handled any issues related to potential adjustments of the design to local plans, any communication with the Danish Nature Conservancy Board and public consultation rounds. In addition, GPA dealt with the overall process management related to end-user involvement together with comprehensive project scrutiny throughout the process and general screenings related to, for example, accessibility.

BLOX is a new must-see complex and extraordinary venue for life in the city on the capital’s harbour front and is home to Danish Architecture Centre and BLOXHUB. BLOXHUB is an interdisciplinary innovation environment for sustainable development. The iconic structure is open to everyone and has many attractions, including a new promenade, flats, fitness centre, exhibitions, shops, a playground and a restaurant.

BLOX was designed by Dutch architects OMA, and the project was funded by Danish philanthropic association Realdania, of which Realdania By & Byg is subsidiary.
