Sundholm District Office

Gottlieb Paludan Architects planned and developed the district office for the heating and gas operation of HOFOR A/S on a site near Sundholm Heating Plant on the island of Amager in Copenhagen.

The building is designed on two levels and provides space for 15 office staff in addition to workshop facilities, changing rooms, showers, and a canteen and kitchen that serve 32 people. The ground floor houses the workshops along with equipment, changing and shower rooms, while the administration and staff welfare facilities are on the first floor. The site also has outdoor recreational areas, parking facilities and forecourt. The offices are equipped with natural ventilation, embedded in a pioneering window technology called ‘3G windows’. District Office Sundholm is the first workplace in Denmark to have this technology. We also prioritized access to daylight in our design with high ceilings throughout and floor-to-ceiling windows. The roof on the lower building is covered in sedum, delaying and reducing the amount of rainwater led into the sewerage network.
